Stress Reducing Tips for the Holidays

Updated: Dec 8, 2022

#Breathe #LoveYourself #SelfCare
You CAN manage #HolidayStress

It’s that time of year.

Excitement! Parties Gifts!

and oh yeah,….stress.

These tips will help you

not only survive the

Holiday season,

but have a good time too.

  1. Get plenty of sleep so your body stays strong and ready for whatever gets thrown at it. (Germs, crabby people, over-excited children, and oh yes… those relatives!) This is a key component in stress reducing.

  2. Practice deep breathing. Slow, deep breathing revitalizes your brain, your cells–every part of your body. When you breathe in slowly and deeply through your nose and slowly breathe out through your mouth, you are reducing your stress. It is not only calming; it has the added benefit of giving you time to think before you speak. (This can prevent further stress–think about it!).

  3. Practice saying Thank You. There is so very much to be grateful for in our lives. Don't take who and what you love for granted.

  4. Help Others. Let somebody change lanes in front of you when you are driving. Hold a door open for someone. Look for ways to help people who have less than you. Do not look for thanks. You will still feel good.

  5. Know your spending limit. This is a HUGE way to relieve holiday stress. Stay on a budget now, to avoid the stress of huge debt in January.

  6. Plan how you will react to situations ahead of time. If you know that certain family parties can lead to trouble, plan ahead for your response. Family gatherings can range from wonderful to awful with a full continuum in between. You can’t control other people, but you can control your reactions.

ANOTHER CHOICE: Don't go in the first place.

Again, you can only control you.

P.S. Watch the alcohol intake. Too much can only lead to trouble.

You know what I am talking about.
